Trade and Industry Development magazine honored Midas Gold Idaho with a Corporate Investment and Community Impact (CiCi) Award for the work we are doing in Valley County. We were one of 15 companies recognized nationally in the Community Impact category.
“The 12th Annual CiCi Community Impact category celebrates projects that are making their communities a better place. From revitalizing the local environment to bringing hope by providing much-needed jobs, these companies are beacons of light,” said a press release from Trade and Industry Development.
As a company, we are honored to work with the community of Valley County. We’ve made this community our home and we believe we have a duty to be a good corporate citizen.
When we first began exploring the historic Stibnite Gold Project site, we made a commitment to hire locally and use Idaho resources when available. Since 2011, we are proud to have invested $105 million in Idaho, nearly 80 percent of that investment has been in Valley County.
Midas Gold Idaho has placed a strong emphasis on community engagement and community giving, particularly around programs for kids and the environment. For two years, we’ve collaborated with Cascade High School and Meadows Valley students and donated $1 to the school program of their choice for every tree the students planted on areas needing reforestation. So far, students have earned $4,885.
In 2016, our employees volunteered almost 700 hours of their time to help teach science in local schools, run a Coats for Kids drive, organize the Senior Grad Night through the Optimist Club, plan the children’s parade during Winter Carnival and other local events.
In our award application, Tom Crawford with the McCall Optimist Club said, “We wish there were more companies like Midas Gold Idaho in our community. They support local organizations and events and Midas Gold Idaho employees are constantly volunteering their time to make our community an even better place to call home.”
In 2016, we partnered with the Valley County Sheriff’s Office and Yellow Pine Fire Department to improve radio communication around the community of Yellow Pine so first responders could talk to each other during an emergency. Valley County Emergency Management received a radio tower and set aside a majority of the funds for the project but they still needed a little help. We contributed materials, man power and the necessary equipment to install the new radio tower. Through this partnership, first responders can now communicate with one another making Yellow Pine safer for the families who live there and people visiting the area.
In total, we’ve given more than $230,000 to community programs, schools, sponsorships and scholarships since 2013.
We look forward to continuing our work in the community for many years to come.
